BREAKING NEWS: 3 most impressive NY Mets prospects in the Spring Breakout game

The Mets went up against the Washington Nationals today in the Spring Breakout game that displayed top prospects from each team on the field.
Los Angeles Dodgers v New York Mets

The New York Mets faced the Washington Nationals earlier this evening in the Spring Breakout game with a final score of 5-1. This game allows fans to see every team’s top prospects play against each other on the field and get people familiar with them. This is the second season that the MLB has done this. The Mets won 4-2 against the Nationals last year, with some of the same players having big games then and today.

Mets breakout pitching prospect Jonah Tong started this game and took advantage of the 2 innings he pitched as he struck out three batters, allowing one hit, walking two batters, and not giving up a single run. Some Mets pitchers displayed some good outings although finding themselves in a lot of trouble throughout the game. It was all about the hitting today as the offense had 8 hits and that leads me to the three prospects that were the most impressive today in the Spring Breakout game.

Boston Baro

Infielder Boston Baro was drafted in the 8th round of the 2023 draft by the New York Mets and has shown signs of progression ever since. According to MLB Pipeline rankings, Baro is currently ranked 14th in the Mets farm system. Boston had a great game today as he got the scoring going early as he hit a solo-homer on a 3-0 count in the third inning. Then in his next at-bat, Baro got on base with a base hit that led to a 2-run inning for New York with the help from Nick Morabito.

Kevin Parada

Catcher Kevin Parada has had his ups and downs as a New York Mets prospect but he found himself in a groove today. The former 2022 first-round pick is currently not in the Mets’ top 30 prospects according to MLB Pipeline rankings. Parada didn’t look too great early on as he struck out in three pitches in his first at-bat, all swings and misses. Then in his next two at-bats, Parada hit a single in the 4th inning and then a deep double in the 5th inning making great contact.

Ryan Clifford

Mets prospect Ryan Clifford has been climbing up the rankings ever since he was acquired from the Houston Astros in the Justin Verlander trade. According to MLB Pipeline rankings, Ryan Clifford is ranked as the 4th best prospect in the Mets farm system and its very deserving. He displayed his power in the 5th inning by hitting a two-run bomb to extend the lead to 5 runs. It was Clifford’s only hit of the game but it was an important one, showing fans what he could do if he was to ever be called up during this upcoming season.
