Patrick Mahomes’ Workout Photo Turns Heads as Fans Find Him Unrecognizable

The Kansas City Chiefs are picking up the pieces from their 40-22 Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles nearly a month ago. As the team reshapes to attempt sustaining their prowess atop the NFL, Patrick Mahomes has remained under the radar since the loss.

Aside from a new haircut and posting to X after Travis Kelce confirmed his return, there hasn’t been much from the Mahomes camp until he posted a photo of him deadlifting in the gym on Wednesday to his Instagram story. Mahomes took fans by surprise with a trim appearance in the photo as he has been known for his “dad bod” physique since a viral video took flight via “Inside the NFL” back in January 2024.

The grind never stops for #15. pic.twitter.com/IZSJ1ogzap — The Kingdom (@MahomeSZN) March 6, 2025 This sparked a wave of reactions as fans made connections between Mahomes new look and the Super Bowl loss, and some didn’t recognize him at all. “Lost the Super Bowl in the worst way and immediately lost 100 pounds #WeAreSoBack,” one user said.

“That’s Mahomes in college lol,” another said. “Wow. Quite the transformation,” a third posted. “He’s still in season shape lol. That L hurt bad bad,” said another user. With Kelce returning for what could likely be his last NFL campaign, the Chiefs look to replicate their offensive consistency while developing a young receiving corps.

The three-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl MVP regressed statistically in 2024. Mahomes produced 245.5 yards per game, which amassed to his lowest raw total of his seven-year career as the Chiefs starting signal caller. He also tied his lowest career touchdown total at 26 in 16 games.
