BREAKING: Cowboys trade back, still land Combine star for Dak Prescott in NFL Mock Draft

2025 NFL Scouting Combine

Free agency is the next major bookmark on the NFL offseason calendar, but draft talk is currently all the rage following the Combine in Indianapolis.

Even though Jerry Jones declined to meet with reporters, the Dallas Cowboys were well-represented at Lucas Oil Stadium and surely have adjusted their draft board accordingly following the weekend’s action.

Might the Cowboys consider Texas A&M pass rusher Shemar Stewart with the No. 12 pick after he logged a perfect 10.0 Relative Athletic Score? It’s certainly possible, but Stewart may have catapulted into the top-10. There definitely could be a team that picks before Dallas that is willing to bet on his athletic traits despite his lack of college production.

While Stewart is the flavor of the week, the Cowboys arguably need more reinforcements on the offensive side of the ball relative to defense. That’s how they attack the early rounds in this mock draft.

Cowboys target NFL Combine stars in three-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft

Trade! The Cowboys acquire No. 20 overall and No. 52 overall from the Broncos for No. 12 overall.

Round 1, Pick 20: Matthew Golden, WR, Texas

Golden’s stock has been on the rise after he showed out for Texas in the College Football Playoff. Many recent mocks have Golden as the second WR off the board behind Tetairoa McMillan and ahead of Luther Burden and Emeka Egbuka.

That will not change after Golden ran a blistering 4.29 40-yard dash. It’s worth noting that Golden suffered an ankle sprain in January so he may run faster at his pro day. Regardless, 4.29 was the fastest time among every WR in the class.

What’s crazy is that speed is not the first thing that pops in Golden’s game. That he announced himself as a sub-4.30 guy all but guarantees him as a first-round pick.

Round 2, Pick 44: Quinshon Judkins, RB, Ohio State

Judkins is another player who boosted his stock in Indy. A violent runner, Judkins turned heads with his 4.48 40-yard dash, an 11 foot broad jump and a 1.51 10-yard split that was the second-fastest time at the position. He added a 38.5″ vertical for good measure.

Those are insane numbers for a 220-pound athlete and they should put any conversation about Judkins lacking explosiveness and long speed to rest.

Judkins was as productive as any RB in college football over the last three years. He led the SEC in rushing as a freshman at Ole Miss and tallied 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns at Ohio State last season despite sharing the backfield with TreVeyon Henderson.

That Judkins has the measurables to match the production makes him a likely second-round pick in April. He’d be a perfect fit in Dallas, which has preached creating violence in their run game under Brian Schottenheimer and Klayton Adams.

Round 2, 52: Darien Porter, CB, Iowa State

Cornerback is a massive need for the Cowboys as Trevon Diggs could miss a chunk of next season following offseason knee surgery.

Enter Porter, who recorded a 9.99 Relative Athletic Score at the Combine. That ranks fourth out of nearly 2,500 cornerbacks that have tested since 1987.

Porter is an older prospect at 24 years old after six seasons at Iowa State, but his physical tools are off the charts. He has great ball skills as a former wide receiver to pair with exceptional length and size for the position at 6-2 and 197 pounds. He put all of that together last season, allowing a 4.7 (!) passer rating when targeted with three interceptions to boot.

If the Cowboys trade back in round one and end up with an additional second-round pick, Porter would be worth a roll of the dice.

Round 3, Pick 76: Danny Stutsman, LB, Oklahoma

The Cowboys seemingly found a gem in 2024 third-round pick Marist Liufau. Maybe lightning can strike twice in the form of Stutsman, who has the potential to be a top-50 pick.

Stutsman will go down as one of the best off-ball linebackers in Oklahoma history. He accumulated 184 solo tackles, 37 tackles for loss and eight sacks over four seasons in Norman. His 49 defensive stops last season were tied for seventh-most among linebackers. He’s a tackling machine who plays with a relentless motor.

Teams should want modern-day linebackers to be explosive. Well, Stutsman showed he has oodles of that with a 4.52 40-yard dash, 1.55 10-yard split and 34″ vertical.

The Cowboys need to add to their LB room this offseason. Stutsman would be an excellent addition to their young core of DeMarvion Overshown and Liufau.
