Mahomes Family Shares Family Tragedy Update

Patrick Mahomes and his family have experienced some highs and lows early in 2025. Both on the field and off the field, it has been a rollercoaster of emotions for the Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback. The year started with Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, welcoming their third child, Golden Raye. After the Mahomes family grew in size, Patrick returned to the gridiron to continue what he has done for much of his NFL career: dominate the AFC.

Mahomes led the Chiefs to their seventh straight AFC Championship Game and helped eek out a 32-29 win over the Buffalo Bills to bring the team to their third straight Super Bowl. Amid that journey, Mahomes and his family were dealing with the imminent passing of his grandfather. He held on through Super Bowl Sunday when the Chiefs took a considerable defeat.

Following his death, Mahomes’ mother Randi had this to say in an Instagram post. “Hard to find the words of holding my father’s hand as he goes to Heaven. I know he’s in a better place. I love you daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant,” Randi Mahomes said on her Instagram post. “I know that it has meant a lot to him,” Randi said. “And I think he’s hanging on because he wants to see his grandson do an amazing thing or just let him play. I mean, he must be such a proud grandpa, so proud.”

The family has had a couple weeks of mourning and time for everyone, including Patrick to take their focus away from football. This week, Randi shared a touching post to her social media once again with her and her three kids together. Fortunately, these circumstances come at a time when his calendar is pretty open and football does not have to be his first priority. Knowing Mahomes, the competitor within will be anxious to get his get-back when the 2025 season rolls around. For now, the NFL superstar will certainly enjoy this time with his family.
