While the return was initially unknown, it’s now been reported what L.A. is getting from Chicago for the standout reliever.

The Cubs are sending a player to be named later or cash to the Dodgers for Brasier. The Dodgers are also sending some cash back to Chicago.

The Cubs decided to skip the waiver line and send the Dodgers some cash or a PTBNL for the standout reliever.

As for the Dodgers, they get something for Brasier, who was designated for assignment last week to make room for All-Star reliever Kirby Yates.

Since Brasier didn’t have any minor league options, he became the odd man out in a loaded Dodgers bullpen.

“Obviously, Brasier has been great for us. As we look out, how the bullpen is built and potentially needing some flexibility down the road, unfortunately (Brasier) was the move,” general manager Brandon Gomes said last week.

“He’s been incredible for us. Great teammate, great dude. There’s a bunch of factors. It never feels good, but that was pretty much the reason.”

Brasier, 37, was with the Dodgers for a year and a half.

He joined L.A. midway through the 2023 season after being designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox, and completely revived his career, sporting a 0.70 ERA over his 39 appearances with the Dodgers.

His 2024 season wasn’t as strong, as he had a 3.54 ERA across 29 appearances. He had a 5.00 ERA in eight postseason appearances.
