The Kansas City Chiefs’ dramatic 32-29 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 26 was the most-watched AFC title game in NFL history with 57.4 million average viewers on CBS, according to Nielsen data.
The record viewership underscored a close game that featured high-profile quarterbacks, and saw the Bills fall short of potential game-winning drive when tight end Dalton Kincaid dropped a fourth down pass from Josh Allen.
The tally broke last year’s record 55.5 million who watched the AFC matchup between the Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. That number broke a 13-year-old record set in 2011 when 54.85 million watched the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New York Jets.
Separately, the Philadelphia Eagles’ 55-23 blowout win over the Washington Commanders generated 44.2 million average viewers on Fox, which was lowest NFC title game viewership in four years.
The Eagles meet the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX Feb. 9 in Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
