Top Phillies prospect breaks into MLB Pipeline’s stacked Top 10 shortstop rankings

The 2025 season brings optimism and a new perspective for the Philadelphia Phillies. The new year brings excitement and another chance to capture a World Series title that has escaped them the last few seasons. The roster is already loaded with stars up and down the lineup to go along with one of the best starting rotations in baseball.

As the roster gets another year older, it’s paramount that the club hits on its previous draft picks to help revamp the club. The Phillies seem like they have a gem in their top prospect, shortstop Aidan Miller, as they await his inevitable arrival to the major league team. Miller climbed the ranks to Double-A for the Reading Fightin Phils last year, where he will look to build from in 2025. Miller is not only the Phillies’ No. 1 prospect but also a top shortstop prospect in the sport, per MLB.com’s Jim Callis.

Phillies’ Aidan Miller breaks into MLB Pipeline’s stacked Top 10 shortstop prospect rankings

MLB Pipeline compiled a list of the top rising shortstops and has Miller representing the Phillies at No. 8. Miller has proven himself to be a top prospect since he was drafted by the Phillies 27th overall in the 2023 Draft. He has proven to be a late first-round steal for the Phillies to fill their future infield.

In 2023, he hit .303/.425/.379 with an .804 OPS between the Florida Complex League and the Single-A Clearwater Threshers. In 2024, he provided more pop with 11 home runs in 102 games across Single-A, High-A for the Jersey Shore BlueClaws, and the Fightin Phils.

Miller was ranked as the 26th-best prospect overall in 2024 and could climb even higher as MLB Pipeline is set to announce its 2025 Top 100 rankings on Friday. Last season, Miller, along with teammate and outfield prospect Justin Crawford, proudly represented the BlueClaws in the MLB All-Star Futures Game. He was also named South Atlantic League Player of the Month in August for the BlueClaws.

Miller will be a major contributor for the Phillies whenever he debuts. His combo of contact and power could pay huge dividends in helping the club fill much-needed holes in the roster. The Phillies have been looking for a big offensive threat from the farm system and they just might have it in Miller.
