NFL starting quarterbacks usually purchase gifts for the offensive linemen at the end of the season as a show of appreciation for their hard work.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, acting like he’s Oprah Winfrey, took the gift-giving to a new level. Purdy gave his offensive linemen brand new Toyota trucks. He presented them with a choice between five Sequoia SUVs and five Tundra trucks.
A video posted by the 49ers on Friday on “X” showed Purdy summoning his linemen and guiding them to a parking lot where they were stunned to see the SUVs and trucks, each of them topped with a red ribbon.
“You guys can check ‘em out, but these are yours,” Purdy said. “Thanks for all you do.”
The total value of the vehicles range from $500,000 to $600,000. Purdy is an endorser of Toyota vehicles and the company is also a team sponsor. Purdy’s 2024 salary is $985,000, though he is expected to sign a contract extension that will pay him at least $50 million per season.
Purdy’s gift-giving was reminiscent of Winfrey giving a car – “You get a car! You can a car!”- to every one of individuals in her studio audience in 2004.
Purdy’s gifts aren’t worth as much as the estimated $8 million for the 276 cars Winfrey gave away, but the gesture and the gift were appreciated just as much.
“My mind is blown, honestly,” tackle Jaylon Moore said on the video. “This is probably the greatest gift I’ve ever got in my life.”
