UPDATE NEWS: Patriots Reportedly Lock In Intriguing Prospect Through Next Season

Terrell Jennings has made just one appearance on gameday for the New England Patriots this season.

But evidently the Patriots have liked what they have seen out of the 6-foot, 217-pound running back on the practice field. So much so that Jennings got a promotion Friday.

According to The Boston Globe’s Christopher Price, the Patriots took Jennings off the practice squad and signed him to the 53-man roster for not only the rest of the 2024 campaign, but for next season as well.

Jennings signed with the Patriots this past spring as an undrafted free agent out of little-known Florida A&M. He was cut at the end of training camp but rejoined the team on the practice squad. He earned one elevation to the active roster, coming in Week 6 against the Houston Texans.

He rushed five times for 13 yards in the blowout loss while also playing seven snaps on special teams.

Jennings could get more of a look with the Patriots playing for draft positioning over their final three games.

The 23-year-old could take over for JaMycal Hasty, who hasn’t done much in his first season with New England. Hasty was ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills due to an ankle injury.

Jennings starred at Florida A&M, rushing for 1,860 yards, which ranks 12th in school history, to go along with 24 touchdowns in 44 career games.

Making this move ensures future depth at the running back position for the Patriots and gives Jennings a chance to see if he can provide any help to a lackluster offense.
