Yankees Predicted To Sign $60 Million Slugger After Cody Bellinger Trade

On Tuesday night, the New York Yankees finalized a blockbuster trade with the Chicago Cubs to acquire outfielder Cody Bellinger. Bellinger will seamlessly slot into the Yankees lineup while playing center field.

What’s next for New York? FanSided’s Chris Landers recently put together a “dream lineup” for Yankees manager Aaron Boone and the Bronx Bombers. One of the additions should be quite obvious to anybody following the Yankees’ offseason closely. It’s Arizona Diamondbacks free agent first baseman Christian Walker.

“Walker, though, still makes the most sense here,” Landers wrote. “He’s a rock-solid hitter, and he would give the Yankees a defensive upgrade that they should be very interested in after how this past World Series ended. And at age 33, he should come cheaper than someone like Santander, who would be shifting positions.

“Alonso is a pipe dream given the contract he’s likely seeking, while Santana and Goldschmidt wouldn’t move the needle enough. Walker falls right in the sweet spot between affordable and productive, and he would round out what could shape up to be a sneakily deep Yankees lineup in 2025.”

Walker is the perfect fit for the Yankees. He’s more affordable than top option Pete Alonso. The righty has as good of a glove as any first baseman in the league. Walker is also still quite a good bat who provides a .800 OPS upside with big-time power.

Acquiring him is the dream move for the Yankees. There are other options being mentioned, but none of them fit the Yankees’ dreams as well as Walker does.
