Over the offseason, the Red Sox acquired Sonny Gray from the St. Louis Cardinals.
It’s now been announced that another player has been added to complete the deal.
The Red Sox wrote (on Monday): “The #RedSox today sent minor league RHP Patrick Galle to the St. Louis Cardinals, completing the November 25, 2025 trade for RHP Sonny Gray.”
MLB World Reacts To Red Sox-Cardinals Deal
Here’s what people were saying on social media:
St. Louis Cardinals: “We have acquired RHP Patrick Galle from the Red Sox to complete the Sonny Gray trade. He will be assigned to Single-A Palm Beach.”
Andrew Parker: “Sonny Gray trade is now complete with the Cardinals after 2025 17th rounder Patrick Galle was the PTBNL”
Adam Akbani: “Patrick Galle is the final piece in the Sonny Gray trade Galle primarily features a low-90s cutter flashing 2 inches of gloveside movement and 7 inches of IVB He’ll also throw a high-80s gyro slider Galle is very raw, but is a fun project”
Ray Mileur: “The Sonny Gray deal is now complete. The Cardinals add RHP Patrick Galle (22), joining Richard Fitts and Brandon Clarke in the return. Galle heads to Palm Beach—raw, limited innings, and very much a development play. Fitts (1.74 ERA at Memphis) looks like the early piece. More about process than payoff—for now.”
@SoxProspects: “Salem RHP Patrick Galle has been traded to the St. Louis Cardinals as the player to be named later in the Sonny Gray trade. Boston drafted him in the 17th round last year as a DE sophomore out of Ole Miss. A relief-only arm, he shows premium velocity but needs to work on his control and secondaries.”
@bsr5973: “With Breslow’s magic touch Future Cy Young winner”
@BOMBARDD: “They couldnt send Sonny back?”
