Breaking News: The latest report on the plan for QB Jacoby Brissett in 2025 is leaving fans stunned

New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett isn’t sure he’ll be returning to the team in 2025.

After signing a one-year deal with the team as the bridge option for rookie quarterback Drake Maye, Brissett will likely seek out another opportunity that gives him a chance to play.

“I’m interested to see what my future holds. Hopefully, I get somewhere to land,” Brissett said ahead of Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, via ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

When asked if a return to New England was in the cards, the veteran quarterback sounded uncertain.

“I don’t know. It’s kind of early to tell that,” said Brissett.

Maye has assumed the role of starter for the Patriots, which means Brissett would be stuck on backup duty if he re-signed with the team in free agency. Brissett hasn’t shied away from how tough the 2024 season has been on him psychologically.

He was basically used as a human piñata for a rebuilding football team.

“I’m not the one to make excuses, but at some point somebody is going to have to watch the film and understand what I was dealing with,” said Brissett, per Reiss. “I think that kind of speaks for itself. I think it’s very easy for people to blame the quarterback for things — that’s what this profession is — but yeah man, tough year.”

It’s hard to argue the fact that the Patriots had one of the worst offensive lines and receiving corps in the NFL. Brissett is limited in his abilities, but he wasn’t put in a great situation to succeed, either.

He’s currently on a one-year deal, and he’ll have to see how the market unfolds for him in free agency.
