As New York Yankees star Giancarlo Stanton’s power has been a key contribution for the team ever since he was traded from the Miami Marlins back in 2017, the team could be at risk of losing that aspect for some time. Fans would see the Yankees star leave Friday’s 12-4 win over the Houston Astros in the sixth inning due to lower leg tightness, as manager Aaron Boone gave some insight into the issue.
Speaking after the win, Boone would say it’s more so in the calf that there’s tightness, expressing how the 36-year-old didn’t want to push it, motioning to the manager to get taken out of the game.
“Yeah, just that some tightness in his calf. Hopefully we got ahead of anything serious So, but we’ll just see where he’s at tomorrow,” Boone said, according to MLB.com.
“He just motioned to me when he was on base, and then I don’t think he didn’t want to push it. He felt it when he was out at second,” Boone continued.
The Yankees dominated the Astros, despite Giancarlo Stanton’s injury
While fans await any further updates on Stanton and if he will have to miss any time, the Yankees played well without the star, dominating the Astros on Friday, with the team now having a season-high seven-game winning streak. As New York got the better of Lance McCullers, the offense of the Yankees was helped by an impressive outing from Jazz Chisholm Jr., as he recorded four RBIs on three hits, one being a home run in the fourth inning.

“It’s back-to-back days now. I feel like, along the way here, over the last few weeks, there’s been a day where we started to see, like, ‘Okay, there he is.’ And then he’d fall back for a day or two, and feel like now, back-to-back days where he’s had some really good swings,” Boone said on Chisholm.
At any rate, it remains to be seen what Stanton’s status looks like as he currently has three home runs and 14 RBIs on a .256 batting average on the season.
