It’s not the first time Aaron Boone was criticized for his decisions, and it won’t be the last. The Yankees manager has often been in the spotlight for supporting poor-performing players. MLB analysts and former players have always doubted his managing ability, especially in crucial situations.
The Yankees started off this season with a great run, but they struggled late with their poor offense. To make things worse, Aaron Boone’s decisions didn’t help the team when they needed it the most.
Yankees fans slammed Boone for keeping Ben Rice out against left-handed pitchers. Rice has been incredible against lefties, and he’s put up some strong numbers. The slugger is averaging .333 with four home runs and 13 RBIs.
Despite the team facing left-handed pitchers, Aaron Boone decided to bench Ben Rice in the last couple of games.
Radio Host Blasts Aaron Boone For His Bad Decision
Ben Rice was certainly unhappy with the manager’s decision, and so was radio host Adam Schein. Schein took to social media to blast Boone for his decision. He mentioned that he expected nothing great from Boone.
“The ability late in games to fire Benny Rice in a big spot? Are you kidding me? I expect the worst when it comes to Aaron Boone. Like, I don’t expect him to make any sense. Don’t expect him to do anything right. I expect sheer buffoonery,” Schein said.
Schein stated that he would have fired Boone in 2020 if it were up to him. There’s plenty of pressure on the Yankees. The last World Series chance ended in disaster, and Aaron Boone could be in the hot seat if they fail to win the World Series.
There have been rumors that the Bronx Bombers could part ways with Boone if the Yankees fall short of making the playoffs.
