The Miami Dolphins are in a rebuild and have a plethora of draft picks ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft in late April. Moreover, a major concern for Miami is the pass-catching weapons for QB Malik Willis, following the team’s cuts of Tyreek Hill and the trade of Jaylen Waddle.
Kyle Pitts: It’d Be “Dope” To Play Under Kevin Stefanski
Nonetheless, apart from the draft, could the Dolphins go the trade route to bring in a pass-catcher for Willis? In an April 2 article from Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton, he sees Miami as a top landing spot for Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts.
“Expect the Dolphins to add multiple receivers in the upcoming draft, though they could also explore the trade market to bring in talent,” Moton wrote.
“Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley had a close-up look at how a dynamic pass-catching tight end can change the complexion of an offense. With the Green Bay Packers, he saw the rise of Tucker Kraft in head coach Matt LaFleur’s system.”
Moreover, Moton sees the Dolphins having an extra first-round pick that could allow Miami to make a move for an established player that fits their rebuild timeline.
“In Miami, Hafley needs to help his quarterback, Malik Willis, who also made strides with the Packers over the last two seasons,” Moton added. “Based on the Dolphins’ wide receiver and tight end groups, Pitts would be their go-to target in the passing attack.
“He could post career numbers in an offense built around him. Remember, the Dolphins acquired a first-round pick from the Denver Broncos in the Jaylen Waddle trade. They could be aggressive for an established playmaker before the draft.”
Falcons Willing to Listen on Offers for Kyle Pitts
The Falcons are signaling a flexible approach under general manager Ian Cunningham. While he praised Kyle Pitts for his talent, Cunningham also hinted that the team is open to exploring trade possibilities.
Speaking with reporters at the annual owner meetings, Cunningham confirmed he’s willing to consider offers for the Pro Bowl tight end.
“It’s my job as the general manager to do what’s best for the organization,” Cunningham said. “Kyle is a great player. We’ve seen his skill set. Also, it’s my job to listen. We’re excited to have Kyle. We’re excited for his future.”
Dolphins Intend to Improve Pass-Catching Group
Recently, Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley shared good news for Willis, noting that the team intends to bolster the wide receiver group to ensure their new QB has the weapons needed to succeed in the 2026 NFL season.
“He’s going to throw the ball to some good players,” Hafley told Kay Adams on the March 30 edition of “Up & Adams.” “We’ve got, we’ve got a bunch of good guys coming back, a bunch of guys that we signed, and we’ve got a lot of draft picks, a lot of them.
“We’ve got seven in the first 100 picks. We’ll have receivers for Malik to throw to. The next time you talk after the draft and as we get the players here, I think you’re going to see we’ll get some good ones for him to throw to.”
