George Pickens has yet to get his contract settled with the Dallas Cowboys, but as that’s being worked out, he has news.
The Dallas Cowboys and wide receiver George Pickens are still working out contract details, and as the clock ticks to the start of the 2026-27 season, it gets more worrisome what might happen with Pickens.
Jerry Jones and the powers at be still have to make a deal, which is nothing new for the Dallas Cowboys, since they often wait late to make big deals. The Cowboys may even opt to trade Pickens, so it’s all up in the air, but things are happening behind the scenes.
So, as the Pickens contract is still in flux for the Cowboys, but amid that, Pickens has a special event on the way.
Dallas Cowboys’ George Pickens Prepping for Activities Outside the NFL
Starting on June 11, Pickens has announced that he’s hosting a bevy of youth football camps through FlexWork. He has two camps scheduled for McAllen and Corpus Christi, Texas, on June 11, as well as one in Austin on July 9 and Frisco on July 10. So, he’s stepping out of the NFL, but it’s still related to football.
“Dallas star wide receiver George Pickens and our FlexWork Sports coaches will guide your child through an exciting, high-energy day designed around fun and unforgettable experiences on the field,” the event states on its official website. “Camp activities include interactive sessions, skill stations, and unique opportunities to connect with our athletes in ways that make the game come alive.”
The event description adds, “All campers will be grouped according to age so everyone feels comfortable, engaged, and able to enjoy the day at the right pace.”
They add that this event is for kids already into football or just starting out. Each camp participant will get a camp team photo with George Pickens, a limited-edition George Pickens FlexWork Football Camp T-shirt, among other extras.
Jalen Waddle’s Trade May Impact George Pickens and the Dallas Cowboys
In other news, Jaylen Waddle’s trade from the Dolphins to Broncos may impact Pickens’ status. “Tuesday provided some overall context for the proverbial price for George Pickens should the Dallas Cowboys be interested in trading him,” RJ Ochoa of Blogging the Boys stated in a Friday, March 20 feature on Pickens’ contract.
As for how this pertains to Pickens, Ochoa states, “The first-round pick that Miami is receiving is 30th overall and that is clearly the main variable involved with the trade. If you are a Cowboys fan interested in trading George Pickens, who the Cowboys placed the franchise tag on this offseason, then it stands to reason that you would want a first-rounder involved.”
In a separate piece for the El Paso Times about trade implications, Bret Bloomquist notes, “By all accounts, there have been no serious talks between the Dallas Cowboys and receiver George Pickens about a long-term deal since Dallas put a franchise tag on him last month.”
Bloomquist also points out that the Waddle trade is bringing more attention to the idea of a Pickens trade, and that the New England Patriots would be a good fit. “Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton has indeed proposed a trade in which Dallas would receive New England’s second-round pick, which, at this point, seems less than what Pickens could command,” he stated. Whether Pickens stays or goes, he’s a talent and his a strong future ahead in the NFL.
