The Braves have claimed Osvaldo Bido from the Yankees.
The Atlanta Braves have been dealing with serious injury trouble with their pitching. Now, because of this, they have added to their pitching depth.
The Braves have announced that they have claimed pitcher Osvaldo Bido off of waivers from the New York Yankees.
Bido is coming off a solid spring training with the Yankees, but it was not enough for him to make the club. In seven games with the Yankees during spring training, he had a 1-0 record, seven strikeouts, and a 1.29 ERA.
Bido appeared in 26 games this past season with the Athletics, where he had a 2-5 record, a 5.87 ERA, and 68 strikeouts. Ten of his appearances on the year were starts.
In 58 career major league games over three seasons split between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Athletics, Bido has a 9-13 record, a 5.07 ERA, and 179 strikeouts.
Overall, with the Braves needing more pitching depth, there is no harm in them taking a chance on Bido with this waiver claim. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact he can make from here.
