MLB Insider: Braves Could Land Mike Trout in Blockbuster Outfield Move
The Atlanta Braves are gradually returning to full health as key players come back into the lineup, including center fielder Michael Harris II, who recently resumed full-time duties in the outfield. Harris, sidelined for two games due to a quad injury but making a pinch-hit appearance on Monday, has been a hot contributor with a .318/.351/.551 slash line, seven home runs, 22 RBIs, and 13 runs scored in 33 games, according to CBS Sports.
Atlanta’s outfield is already strong, featuring Ronald Acuña Jr. and Harris, along with depth options like Mauricio Dubón. However, MLB insider Jim Bowden has suggested that the Braves could pursue a blockbuster trade to acquire Angels superstar Mike Trout. Bowden envisions a lineup featuring Trout, Acuña, and Harris, noting, “It would be a perfect fit for them, and that would give Mike Trout a legitimate shot, even a better chance than Philadelphia, of winning a World Series, and he would fit perfectly with that team.”

The primary hurdle for such a trade would be Atlanta’s potential package to the Angels. Nevertheless, the Braves possess significant prospect depth and roster flexibility, making a deal plausible. CBS Sports reports that the Braves’ bench depth and utility options provide a strong foundation for absorbing a major acquisition. Players like Mauricio Dubón, Jorge Mateo, Kyle Farmer, Aaron Schunk, and Dominic Smith offer positional versatility and experience, which could be leveraged in trade negotiations.
Adding Trout would provide Atlanta with another elite bat and a marquee presence in the lineup. Even if Trout were limited defensively due to age or health considerations, his power and on-base skills would remain impactful, and he could also serve as the designated hitter on days he sits in the field. Under contract through at least 2030, Trout would bring long-term star power and veteran leadership to a Braves team already aiming for sustained postseason success.
While a trade for Trout is not without challenges and remains unlikely, Bowden emphasizes that the fit between the Braves’ roster composition and Trout’s abilities is compelling. The combination of Acuña, Harris, and Trout would create one of the most formidable outfields in Major League Baseball, both offensively and defensively, and could significantly enhance Atlanta’s championship prospects. Strategic flexibility and prospect depth position the Braves to explore bold moves like this should an opportunity arise, keeping fans and analysts intrigued as the season progresses.
