The Buffalo Bills may not be finished with the renovation of their wide receiver room.
The team already addressed the struggling position by acquiring DJ Moore in a trade, while parting ways with veteran Curtis Samuel after his injury-plagued tenure in Buffalo. SI.com’s Mike Kadlick believes there is still one more big move coming, suggesting the Bills will trim up the position by trading Keon Coleman.
Bills ‘Reset’ By Trading Keon Coleman
Kadlick suggested that it would “make sense” for the Bills to make a subtraction to their wide receiver room after making the addition of Moore. Getting rid of Coleman would clear the way for Moore to solidify his spot as a No. 1 target for quarterback Josh Allen.
“After acquiring DJ Moore (and a 2025 fifth-round pick) from the Bears in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick earlier this month, Josh Allen and new head coach Joe Brady—who notably worked with Moore from 2020 to ‘21 while serving as the Panthers’ offensive coordinator—have their first top-tier wide receiver to work with since the days of Stefon Diggs,” Kadlick wrote. Meanwhile, Keon Coleman, who Buffalo selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft, has failed to make an impact over the past two seasons and may be in need of a reset.”
The Bills face an uncertain future with Coleman after his struggles in 2025. He was benched twice for missing team practices or meetings, all while watching his role in the offense dwindle. Coleman failed to match the production of his rookie season, with hope fading that he could reach the promise he showed as the No. 33 overall pick in the NFL draft.
Kadlick suggested the move could make sense for the Saints, who need more talent in their own wide receiver room.
“Enter the Saints, who could use a developmental No. 2 target behind Chris Olave for second-year quarterback Tyler Shough to work and grow with,” Kadlick wrote. “Outside of the aforementioned Olave, New Orleans’ leading receiver last season was tight end Juwan Johnson, followed by Rashid Shaheed—who was traded to Seattle at the deadline.”
Bills Losing Out on Another Potential Addition
The Bills had tried to boost their wide receiving corps at last season’s NFL trade deadline, but general manager Brandon Beane said they were ultimately unable to find a trade partner. The Bills did manage a pair of late-season additions — signing Mecole Hardman and acquiring Brandin Cooks off waivers — but may have come up short on a second chance at a trade.
SI.com’s Albert Breer reported that the Bills fell out of the running for landing Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown, though the NFC contenders could revisit the idea later down the line.
“The reality is the Eagles needed breathing room, [tight end Dallas] Goedert could give them that on a new deal, and Philly really wanted to keep him separate from all that,” Breer wrote. “So they work something out, and it opens some options. Trading Brown is one, but trading Brown would mean replacing him, too. And moving him after June 1 would give Philly the chance to spread the cap damage out, even if that’s more kicking the can down the proverbial road.”
