Last week, Cubs star Pete Crow-Armstrong graced the front cover of Chicago Magazine and decided to use the platform to take a shot at Dodgers fans.

And it really came out of nowhere. When talking about how much he loves Chicago and Cubs fans, he said, “It’s just an incredible city. The people are great. They give a s—. They aren’t just baseball fans who go to the game like Dodgers fans to take pictures or whatever. They are paying attention. They care.”

Now, Crow-Armstrong is a southern California native who has presumably spent more amount of time around Dodgers fans than most other players who like to throw shade at LA, but it’s impossible not to think that he just picked the lowest-hanging fruit.

And he doubled down. During an appearance on Foul Territory, he was asked about his comments — which Dodgers fans unsurprisingly responded to very negatively — and said, “I grew up going to Dodgers games when they weren’t always good. But [the fans] go in phases. I remember putting the Giants fan in the coma. That stuck with me as a kid. Just little things, sitting in the stands, nasty stuff goes on. I didn’t always experience that at other ballparks.”

Pete Crow-Armstrong tried and failed to clarify inflammatory comments about Dodgers fans

He was also sure to clarify that he didn’t mean any ill-will toward the people in the organization. “That has nothing to do with Doc, that has nothing to do with Shohei, any of the players over there. I love Mookie Betts, I look up to him like crazy. Freddie’s only ever been great to me. If anything, those are the guys that have given these fans a reason to be fans.”

We don’t know, man. It still kinda seems like you just picked the most hated team in baseball and decided that would ingratiate you even more with the fans at the Friendly Confines. Again, low-hanging fruit.

Crow-Armstrong has confirmed that the he’s had extension discussions with the Cubs and wants to keep having them … so this all feels like a poorly executed publicity stunt, kind of like Tarik Skubal parading around Detroit knowing it would make the Tigers look even worse for low-balling him at $19 million to try to avoid arbitration (of course, they did not).

Whatever; we see through the act. There are ways to compliment Chicago fans without trying to dunk on the most untouchable team in baseball.

🚨 WHAT IF THE ORIOLES JUST LOST MORE THAN A GAME PLAN… BUT THEIR EDGE? Baltimore Orioles are being questioned after concerns emerged about their confidence and execution in adapting to the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) system, with some analysts suggesting it may be affecting their overall aggressiveness and in-game decision making. ⚾ It’s not just about calls at the plate — it’s about rhythm, trust, and how a team adjusts when the strike zone is no longer subjective. When that edge disappears, small hesitation turns into big consequences over a long season.
