They’ve signed free agent left-handed pitcher Austin Gomber to a contract, according to MLB reporter Aram Leighton.
It’s a minor league contract, which Leighton reports will come with an invite to spring training.
Gomber was originally a fourth-round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2014 MLB Draft out of Florida Atlantic.

Gomber made his MLB debut with 29 appearances in the 2018 season with the St. Louis Cardinals, when he had a 4.44 ERA.
In 2020 with the Cardinals, his ERA was 1.86 in 14 outings.
From there, he joined the Colorado Rockies for five seasons.
With the Rockies, pitching at altitude, Gomber had a 5.31 ERA.
Gomber started 109 of his 125 appearances with the Rockies, so he can work in a rotation if needed.

His career strikeouts per nine innings is 6.9, with 2.8 walks per nine.
He has allowed 1.5 home runs per nine innings in his career, higher than you’d want, although at least partly attributable to pitching in Coors Field.
It’s certainly a worthy attempt by the Rangers to see if Gomber can make it work somewhere outside of Denver.
