It’s also a good time to get clarification from managers and executives on what teams’ goals are and how they plan to improve in the offseason.
On Monday, MLB Network caught up with Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora.
Cora touched on several topics with MLB Network, including the dominance of starting pitcher, and 2025 Cy Young finalist, Garrett Crochet.
Cora also discussed where he feels the Red Sox need to improve in ’26, while highlighting one of the team’s most impressive rookies from this past season.
“We got a lot of young players that they’re really, really good. Starting with Roman,” Cora said in an appearance on MLB Network on Monday. “So just stay the course. One of the things we want to do better is run prevention. We pitched well, we were OK defensively. I think range-wise and outs above average in the outfield we were amazing, but we have to be consistent. … That Game 2, Game 3 of the (Wild Card), our defense cost us advancing to the next round. Hopefully we can become more athletic, be better defensively and still rake.”
Anthony entered 2025 as the consensus No. 1 prospect in baseball according to several publications. And many fans, coaches and analysts anxiously waited for him to make his major league debut, which he did in early June.

In 71 games, Anthony scored 48 runs and hit 18 doubles, a triple and eight home runs with 32 RBIs. He slashed .292/.396/.463 with an .859 OPS.
Anthony missed nearly four weeks of games in the final week of the season due to a left oblique strain and wasn’t able to play in the postseason due to the same injury.
Boston has already made an impact this offseason by acquiring right-handed starting pitcher Sonny Gray from the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Red Sox have also been linked to players like third baseman Alex Bregman and designated hitter/outfielder Kyle Schwarber.
Boston had a tumultuous 2025 season that included moving on from face of the franchise Rafael Devers and working in several of the organization’s top prospects.
