Milwaukee Brewers ace Freddy Peralta has been one of the names being floated around, with the Sox being a top suitor. Fansided’s Mark Powell believes that the Sox are a top suitor as well and believes he has a potential trade that could get Peralta to Boston.

“I’ll lean heavy on the Red Sox. If Boston is serious about winning a World Series in the next few years, then trading for and keeping a player like Peralta could go a long way. He’s just 29 years old and would serve as a perfect No. 2 starter behind Crochet. Boston has a litany of top pitching prospects, including several who are nearing the majors or already have MLB experience. They also have a surplus of outfield talent, which Milwaukee could pluck from,” Powell wrote.

This past season, Peralta posted a 17-6 record, a 2.70 ERA, 204 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.075 over 176 innings pitched. Combine him with Crochet, and the Sox get one of the best 1-2 punches in baseball.
Powell did state that this might be a bit of an overpay for Peralta, but at the same time, an ace like Peralta being put up for trade is a once in a blue moon type of situation. If the Sox are smart, they’ll start negotiations right away.
