The Buffalo Bills have officially submitted a request to the NFL demanding an investigation into referee Roy Ellison, who took over officiating duties after Adrian Hill exited the game due to a non contact injury during the Week 12 matchup between the Bills and the Houston Texans. The team believes Ellison made multiple controversial decisions that may have significantly affected the fairness of the game.

The situation escalated when lead referee Adrian Hill collapsed in the third quarter and was carted off the field. Roy Ellison stepped in as the acting head referee. However, within minutes, both fans and Bills personnel noticed several questionable calls.

Multiple clear contact plays by the Texans went unflagged, while minor infractions by the Bills were penalized. Slow motion replays circulating on social media show Bills receivers and running backs being held or pulled with no reaction from Ellison.

A team source stated:
“The Bills want the league to review the entire game and evaluate every decision Ellison made after taking over.”

Complicating matters is Ellison’s past. In 2018, he was reprimanded after being accused of verbally insulting Bills player Jerry Hughes. Bills fans argue that this history raises concerns about his neutrality in any game involving Buffalo.
