Dallas Cowboys Extend Lease at AT&T Stadium: A New Era in Arlington Until 2055
Arlington, TX – The Dallas Cowboys are staying in Arlington for the long haul. In a significant move, the Cowboys and the city of Arlington are finalizing a lease extension at AT&T Stadium, ensuring the team’s presence in the city until at least 2055. This deal marks a continued commitment to Arlington and its surrounding businesses, solidifying the Cowboys’ role in the local community for decades to come.
A Historic Deal for Arlington and the Cowboys
Originally, the Cowboys’ lease was set to expire in 2039. However, the new extension adds an additional 16 years, extending their time in AT&T Stadium well into the middle of the century. According to Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, this is a monumental deal for both the team and the local community.
“A huge project that will hit the agenda next week is we’re extending the Cowboys’ lease here in Arlington to 2055,” Ross said. “That is a phenomenal deal, because that means the small business around the entertainment district, and everybody else, has now 30 more years of having the Cowboys here in Tarrant County and the Cowboys here in Arlington. We are super stoked about what’s going on, and we have tremendous momentum.”
This extension represents a huge boost to Arlington and the entire Tarrant County area, ensuring that the Cowboys will continue to drive traffic and business to the AT&T Stadium area, contributing to the local economy for another 30 years.
AT&T Stadium: A Premier NFL Venue

Even though AT&T Stadium is not the newest venue in the NFL, it remains one of the most iconic. Since its opening in 2009, the stadium has hosted numerous high-profile events, solidifying its place as one of the premier sports and entertainment venues in the country.
The stadium has already seen significant action, including the Super Bowl in 2011, NBA All-Star Weekend in 2010, the NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2014, and the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2015.
Moreover, the Cotton Bowl made AT&T Stadium its permanent home starting in 2010, adding to the venue’s list of prestigious events. Even with the stadium’s age, its ability to host major events continues to make it one of the most valuable venues in professional sports.
A $295 Million Investment in Renovations
In anticipation of hosting FIFA World Cup matches this summer, the Cowboys have committed $295 million to renovate the stadium. These upgrades are designed to ensure that the stadium is fully prepared for the international event and can continue hosting top-tier competitions for years to come.
As part of this commitment, AT&T Stadium will host nine World Cup matches in the summer, the most of any venue in the tournament. The investment in renovations further underscores the Cowboys’ dedication to maintaining AT&T Stadium as one of the most state-of-the-art venues in the world.
Looking Ahead: The Cowboys’ Legacy in Arlington
The Cowboys’ extended lease in Arlington is not just about football—it’s about continuing the team’s legacy in a city that has grown alongside them. With this new lease agreement, the Cowboys will continue to serve as the heartbeat of Arlington, attracting fans, businesses, and tourists for decades.
For the Cowboys and their fans, this means more opportunities to enjoy world-class events and continue the tradition of excellence that has defined the team for over 60 years. As the franchise looks ahead, this lease extension ensures that AT&T Stadium remains their home, continuing to be a central hub for sports and entertainment in North Texas.
