⚡ REPORT: Atlanta Braves Make Big Move, Signing 29‑Year‑Old Free Agent Outfielder From Phillies—A Game‑Changer in the Making?

The Atlanta Braves landed some organizational depth on Saturday from the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Braves signed free agent outfielder Brewer Hicklen, according to Aram Leighton.

Hicklen spent the end of the 2025 season in the Phillies’ system, although he didn’t get to the majors with Philadelphia.

He had begun the 2025 campaign with the Detroit Tigers.

Fittingly, Hicklen went to the Tigers just before the season started in a deal from the Milwaukee Brewers (yes, Brewer was a Brewer).

Hicklen will turn 30 before the next season gets underway. He has played in 10 MLB games in his career.

At the MLB level, Hicklen is 2-for-12 with two stolen bases.

He has played 410 career games in Triple-A. At that highest level of the minor leagues, Hicklen has batted .240 with a .464 slugging percentage while also stealing 125 bases.

He likely won’t have a big role in Atlanta, but he’s a solid depth piece. Teams like him just enough to keep adding him, but not quite enough to keep him around. Maybe this will be the time that Hicklen finds a way to stick around.
