On Wednesday afternoon, the Chicago White Sox will host the Baltimore Orioles for the final game of their series.

The White Sox will look to avoid getting swept, as they have lost each of the first two.

Before Wednesday’s game, the White Sox announced that they had made several roster moves.

One of those decisions including optioning Shane Smith to Triple-A.

Brooke Fletcher wrote: “#whitesox roster moves ahead of today’s finale vs. Baltimore:

• Shane Smith optioned to AAA Charlotte • Tyler Schweitzer selected from Charlotte • Brooks Baldwin (right elbow surgery) to 60-day IL

Smith: 0-2, 10.80 ERA, 11 K, 9 BB in 3 starts this season”

Smith’s MLB Background

Smith is coming off a solid rookie year for the White Sox.

He went 7-8 with a 3.81 ERA in 29 games.

The 26-year-old also made the All-Star game in his first MLB season.

Despite his struggles, it’s more than likely that Smith will be back with the White Sox this season.

White Sox Right Now

The White Sox have gone 4-7 in their first 11 games of the 2026 season, which has them as the fourth-place team in the American League Central.

They are 3-2 in the five games they have played at home.

Following Wednesday’s series finale, the White Sox will head to Kansas City for a series with the Royals on Thursday.
