Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb Makes NFL History Against Commanders

It hasn’t been the prettiest of seasons for Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys. Entering 2024 with playoff expectations, Dallas has found themselves at 3-7 with another tough challenge in the nation’s capital against the Washington Commanders in Week 12. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been one of the lone bright spots for the Cowboys. The former Oklahoma Sooners star has tallied 67 catches for 774 yards and four touchdowns prior to the Commanders game. And his solid season continued in Week 12.

On Sunday against Washington, Lamb picked up his fourth catch on the Cowboys’ second drive of the game, which went for seven yards. According to the Dallas Cowboys Public Relations on X, with that reception, Lamb has surpassed former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas (43) for the most consecutive games with four or more catches in NFL history.

Lamb has recorded at least four receptions in 44 consecutive games, surpassing Michael Thomas for the longest such streak in NFL history. — Dallas Cowboys Public Relations (@DallasCowboysPR) November 24, 2024 Lamb’s streak dates back to Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season, his third year in the league, when the Cowboys defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 20-17. In that game, the All-Pro recorded seven catches for 75 yards.

nother interesting tidbit of this record is that quarterback Cooper Rush was filling in for an injured Dak Prescott to start the streak. The record-breaking game against the Commanders also saw him catching balls from Rush with Prescott ruled out for the remainder of 2024 after undergoing hamstring surgery. Lamb has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last three years. He is on track to do so once again in 2024. The star wideout had a breakout season in 2023, recording career-highs in receptions (135), receiving yards (1,749) and receiving touchdowns (12).

His career year in Big D earned him a massive contract extension over the offseason for four years, $136M. He will likely remain a big piece for Dallas’ future, barring a major roster change.
