The Pittsburgh Steelers fell to 5-4 after their Week 10 Sunday Night Football loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers was the target of fans after a dud offensive performance, which dominated news stories on Monday morning.
For much of the 2025 season, Rodgers and the offense have not been the problem. At times, they have actually been the strength of this football team. Unfortunately, roles reversed on Sunday night as the future Hall of Fame QB only completed 16 of his 31 passing attempts.
Rodgers was also sacked three times (including one safety), fumbled once (although he recovered it), and threw two interceptions, yielding a painfully ugly QBR of 4.6 out of 100 and a passer rating of 50.6.
On top of that, star wide receiver DK Metcalf struggled to get going once again (3-for-7 for 35 yards), and the Steelers’ offense only produced 10 points — with the only touchdown coming in garbage time.
After the dreadful loss on national television, a contingent of Steelers fans quickly turned on Rodgers on social media, calling for backup quarterback Mason Rudolph to take over down the stretch.
Fans Want Mason Rudolph After Cringe SNF Performance From Aaron Rodgers & Steelers

It didn’t take long for the pitchforks to come out on X late last night, on November 9.
“I’m ready for Mason Rudolph to save Christmas again,” one fan stated.
Pittsburgh radio host Andrew Fillipponi agreed, posting: “Mason Rudolph could do better. This is awful.”
And a third Rodgers critic simply said: “Unleash Mason Rudolph.”
It didn’t end there, as the calls to move on from Rodgers became eerily reminiscent of Russell Wilson’s regressive run in Pittsburgh a year ago.
“Please let Mason Rudolph play the remainder of the season please,” one fan begged. “It can’t get no worser. Retire Rodgers.”
“I’m getting really frustrated about Mike Tomlin and he won’t put Mason Rudolph in to play as quarterback. We really need him,” another Steelers supporter wrote.
Finally, among many other calls for a QB change, one Steelers fan concluded: “Let’s move on from Rodgers. It’s time to fake an injury and go with Mason Rudolph.”
Rudolph has become a fan favorite in Pittsburgh after initially disappointing as a former third-round pick in 2018. The Steelers re-signed him in free agency this offseason before entering a long-term pursuit of Rodgers.
Eventually, Tomlin and the Steelers got their guy in Rodgers, and the results have been fairly positive so far despite this recent turn of events. Rudolph has served as the backup QB and next man up behind Rodgers this season.
Ravens Win Again as Steelers’ Lead in AFC North Drops to 1 Game
The SNF loss to the Chargers was really the exclamation point of an already bad day for the Steelers.
Earlier, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens rebounded in the second half of their Week 10 outing to roll to an easy victory over the Minnesota Vikings. That win brought their record up to 4-5, which is remarkable considering they were 1-5 a few weeks ago.
Jackson’s return has sparked a resurgence in Baltimore, and the bitter rival is now just one game back of Pittsburgh in the AFC North. And the two divisional foes have not played one another yet.
What looked like a breeze of a path to a divisional title is now anything but, and with the way the Steelers are playing, even a wildcard berth feels somewhat in doubt — let’s say the Ravens surpass them.
The 2025 campaign is slipping away right before everyone’s eyes, and the fanbase knows this feeling all too well. The calls to fire Tomlin came first, and now the social media movement to bench Rodgers for Rudolph has begun, too.
