The Dallas Cowboys desperately need more firepower on the defensive side of the ball if they want any shot at making the playoffs this season.

The Cowboys currently rank 31st against the pass, 29th against the run and 31st in points allowed per contest. Getting after the quarterback has been an issue, also, as Dallas has just 15 sacks through eight games.
Amid their defensive struggles this season, The Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer predicts the Cowboys will make a blockbuster trade for Las Vegas Raiders star edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
“With the Cowboys’ defense breaking down against any above-average offense with its lacking pass rush and coverage issues, Jerry Jones needs to decide whether his 3-4-1 team will be buyers at the deadline,” Iyer wrote. “It seems like Crosby or bust for Dallas to try to replace Micah Parsons, but it’s no surprise Pete Carroll & Co. are hesitant to move the Raiders’ only true defensive impact player.”
When you talk about the perfect move the Cowboys, this would be it.

Crosby is one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL and would immediately upgrade the team’s defense in a big way. Crosby has posted double-digit sacks three times during his career and has four sacks and 25 pressures over seven contests this season.
Crosby would also be a long-term solution, as his $106.5 million contract runs through 2029.
While all that sounds great, it remains highly unlikely the Raiders will trade Crosby.
According to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, the Cowboys have called the Raiders about the four-time Pro Bowler, but were told he is not available, which falls in line with other reports we’ve seen that say Crosby won’t be traded.

Hats off to Jerry Jones for trying, but it looks like he’ll have to search elsewhere to add some much-needed help to the Cowboys’ putrid defense.
