Toronto Blue Jays fans decided to rub it in a bit for Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.
The Blue Jays were victorious in Game 1 of their World Series matchup against the Dodgers, winning by a lopsided final score of 11-4. Playing in front of their raucous home crowd at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ont., the Blue Jays rode a history-making grand slam by Addison Barger in the sixth inning that blew the game open.
In the closing stages of the contest with the game already decided, the Toronto faithful decided to serenade the Dodgers superstar Ohtani with a harsh four-word chant. They began yelling, “We don’t need you!” at Ohtani.
Here is the video.

Baseball fans will recall that the Blue Jays seriously pursued Ohtani in free agency after the 2023 season. At one point, Toronto looked like the favorites to land Ohtani’s services, and a wild plane saga even ensued in the middle of it.
However, Ohtani decided in the end to sign with the Dodgers, leaving the Blue Jays reportedly feeling like they were used. Especially with Ohtani going on to win a World Series in Los Angeles last season and now facing the Blue Jays in the World Series this season, the snub is something that Toronto fans will never forget.
Ohtani did do well enough during Friday’s Game 1, launching a two-run home run in the seventh inning (albeit after the game was already out of hand). Nevertheless, the Blue Jays faithful saw their opportunity to troll Ohtani during the World Series opener and were more than happy to take it.
