Fantasy Football start/sit recommendations for the 49ers in Week 7 vs. Falcons

The San Francisco 49ers fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week at Raymond James Stadium to fall to 4-2, and now they’ll take on the Atlanta Falcons at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday night with a chance to be in sole possession of the top spot in the NFC West.

San Francisco played far from their best football in Week 6, and now they’ll take on a team with talented skill players on offense and one of the best defenses in the league, holding teams to the seventh-fewest points (20.0) and the fewest yards (253.4) in the NFL.

For this nationally-televised broadcast, the 49ers could have a few fantasy-relevant players on the field in primetime. Let’s look at what fantasy owners should do with their 49ers in Week 7.

QB Mac Jones: Sit

In his four starts so far this season, he’s averaging 17.1 fantasy points per game, which is the 16th-most for a quarterback with at least three starts. Jones is getting Jauan Jennings and George Kittle back this week, which should help him, but the Falcons have allowed the sixth-fewest points per game (15.6) to opposing quarterbacks.

RB Christian McCaffrey: Start

McCaffrey has averaged 24.7 fantasy points per game this year, which is good for second in the league behind Atlanta’s Bijan Robinson. McCaffrey is an automatic start when healthy.

WR Kendrick Bourne: Start

Bourne joined San Francisco in Week 2, and after three mediocre games, he’s caught 15 passes for 284 yards over the last two weeks and is now averaging 12 points per game, which is 34th among all wide receivers. With a few receivers ahead of him battling injuries and others on bye weeks, Bourne should at least be used as a flex in Week 7.

TE George Kittle: Start

Kittle finished the 2024 season as the third-best tight end in fantasy football with 236.6 points, but he had the highest average with 15.8 points per game. He played just 21 snaps in Week 1, catching four passes for 25 yards and a touchdown, before suffering a hamstring injury that landed him on injured reserve. Kyle Shanahan said this week that Kittle isn’t on a pitch count, so he should be starting for any team that has him.

D/ST: Sit

San Francisco has no pass rush and hasn’t intercepted a pass in their last 13 games. Things will only get worse without Fred Warner now. Stay away from Robert Saleh’s defense.
