Questions have surrounded New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone just about every offseason since taking over managerial duties in 2018. For now, it seems as though the organization believes in him.

The Yankees were just eliminated in the ALDS by the Toronto Blue Jays in embarrassing fashion. Now with the offseason ahead, GM Brian Cashman spoke with reporters on Thursday regarding Boone’s future with the franchise.

“I think he’s a good manager. He’s one of the better managers. If he was out there right now, he’d get a job rather quickly,” Cashman said in defense of Boone. “Because of our environment, he’s someone that can be second-guessed ten million times over. I don’t care who you put in that, it would be the same with whoever else is in there.”

The Yankees are still Boone believers as of now

Depending on how you feel, some Yankees fans may roll their eyes at Cashman defending his team’s manager, but the reality of the matter is that the team trusts Boone to be the guy to secure title number 28.

“The guarantee is always that we’re going to be fighting for it – that’s the one thing that the Steinbrenner family provides for this city is constantly having a team that you can put forth that you believe is capable of a championship. That’s the job that we’ll be doing once again next year. The championship caliber intent is always there,” Cashman said.

Boone will be entering his ninth season as manager of the Yankees in 2026 as the team looks to secure a championship in the Aaron Judge/Aaron Boone era. Boone is under contract through the 2027 season, so for now, his job appears safe barring any unforeseen circumstances.
