Luis Perales, one of the top pitching prospects in the Red Sox organization, reached 101.1 mph with his fastball in an Arizona Fall League game Tuesday.

Perales started and recorded four outs in the Salt River Rafters’ 7-3 victory over the Glendale Desert Dogs.

The 22-year-old righty allowed one hit and struck out two but struggled with control. He walked three batters and landed just 52% of his pitches for strikes.

But it was only Perales’ fourth outing in 2025.

He missed nearly the entire season while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery that he underwent June 27, 2024. He returned Sept. 13 and pitched in three games combined between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester. He allowed two runs, no hits and three walks while striking out four.

For Salt River on Tuesday, he showed elite velocity with three pitches in the triple digits. He touched 101.1 mph, 100.2 mph and 100 mph.

Perales, a member of Boston’s 40-man roster, has yet to make his big league debut. He began the 2025 season ranked as Boston’s No. 1 pitching prospect, but Baseball America now has him ranked behind pitchers Payton Tolle, 2025 first-round pick Kyson Witherspoon, Connelly Earlyand Brandon Clarke. Overall, he is the Red Sox’ No. 8 prospect, according to Baseball America.

Red Sox prospect Brandon Neely, a 2024 third round pick out of Florida, also pitched for Salt River on Tuesday. He allowed two runs in three innings but both runs were unearned. He gave up three hits and no walks while striking out one.
