Rangers fans have been holding their breath waiting for the results of the MRI. Now, Kennedi Landry reports that DeGrom’s MRI came back clean.
“There is no structural issues with Jacob deGrom’s knee,” Landry posted on X. “The MRI came back clean. You can all let out that sign of relief.”
On the surface, DeGrom’s 250th start in his career on Monday was going as expected. The Rangers star struck out six Mariners batters and allowed just one hit. Most pitchers would be able to pitch another inning, maybe a second one too, if the sixth inning ended quickly. Instead, DeGrom was pulled despite throwing fewer pitches than he usually does in his starts.
The Rangers said after the game that DeGrom was pulled out early due to discomfort in his knee before the start of the game. DeGrom himself said that his knee felt a bit “tender”, according to ESPN. That being said, the pitcher was walking around the clubhouse just fine before their game on Tuesday, without any sign of a limp from the star pitcher.
The Rangers won DeGrom’s start on Monday, 2-1. With another win today against the Mariners, the Rangers improved to 6-5 on the year and are tied with the Angels for the top seed in the AL West.
Jacob DeGrom has been dealing with injuries throughout his career. So when the Texas Rangers took him out after just 78 pitches on Monday, fans were understandably concerned. It was reported that DeGrom was feeling some discomfort in his knee, hence why the team took him out earlier than anticipated.
