DODGERS DRAMA: Miguel Rojas admits he regrets his daring play against the Phillies — a gutsy move that backfired and shifted the game’s momentum in seconds. His honesty afterward revealed both frustration and leadership, as teammates rallied behind him despite the costly error. One risky decision, one unforgettable lesson..ll

Miguel Rojas made a ballsy defensive play in his Los Angeles Dodgers’ 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2 of their NLDS at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pa., on Monday night, one that he ended up regretting.

Alec Bohm was batting for the Phillies with runners on first and second in the bottom of the sixth innings of a scoreless game. Bohm hit a grounder to third. Rather than throw to first or second for the force out, Rojas decided to turn it into a foot race with Trea Turner, who is one of the fastest players in the league.

Rojas had to dive into third base to barely beat a diving Turner to the bag in a boom-boom play.

That was a cool play, and it may have given the Dodgers some energy. They ended up scoring all four of their runs in the top of the 7th inning, and their bullpen held off the Phillies for a 4-3 win.

Rojas spoke with Spanish outlet El Extrabase after the game and admitted that the easier play would have been to first or second.

Rojas really likes to make things interesting, and it’s obvious his instinct is to take the ball to the bag on his own. That nearly burned him on Monday night, but it all worked out.

The Dodgers lead the best-of-5 series 2-0. The series goes to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Wednesday.
