The Dallas Cowboys will face the Green Bay Packers in Week 4 without star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and they’ve surprised some with their most recent roster move, adding another WR before taking on the Packers’ No. 3-ranked defense.<\/p>\n

Lamb suffered an ankle injury against the Chicago Bears in a Week 3 loss, and he’s expected to miss the next few weeks because of it.<\/p>\n

There has been plenty of speculation about how long Lamb will be sidelined and who the Cowboys would turn to in his absence. Former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens is expected to fill Lamb’s role as Dallas’ WR1, and depth receiver KaVontae Turpin could see an uptick in his usage as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity,\u201d Pickens said on September 25, per NFL reporter Ed Werder. \u201cI already kind of showcase, but I just want to show up for Dak, and show for the team and get a dub.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, as the Cowboys look to fill out the rest of their WR depth chart, they dipped into their practice squad and promoted a familiar face to the 53-man roster in 2023 undrafted free agent receiver Jalen Cropper on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Cropper, 24, has played in one regular-season game in his career. He logged 12 offense snaps and three more on special teams against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4 of the 2024 season, per Pro Football Reference.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys lost that contest 34-6.<\/p>\n

\u201cLittle surprised it wasn\u2019t Jalen Brooks, but I was called a mad man for suggesting Cropper was also ahead of [Traeshon] Holden,\u201d Tom Downey, host of the \u201cCowboys Report,” wrote on X.<\/p>\n

Holden is a 6-foot-3 undrafted free agent, much bigger than the 6-foot Cropper.<\/p>\n

Some were also surprised Cropper was called up over third-year man Jalen Brooks, who appeared in 14 games for the Cowboys last season, totaling 12 receptions on 30 targets, 117 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n

In addition to Lamb, the Cowboys are also without wideout Jonathan Mingo as well. Cropper still figures to operate behind Pickens, Jalen Tolbert, Ryan Flournoy, and Turpin.<\/p>\n

Mingo is on injured reserve but with a designation to return when healthy. Still, the Cowboys are depleted until they can get Lamb back in the fold.
