The San Francisco 49ers suffered a massive blow in their Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals. While they moved to 3-0 on the young season, they unfortunately lost superstar pass rusher Nick Bosa to a season-ending torn ACL.<\/p>\n
Bosa will not be able to be replaced barring a massive blockbuster trade. A player like Trey Hendrickson would be the answer for the 49ers to replace Bosa, but that is not a very likely scenario.<\/p>\n
A new update was shared about Bosa\u2019s injury on Thursday.<\/p>\n
According to San Francisco general manager John Lynch, as shared by NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Bosa will undergo his surgery to repair the torn ACL on Friday.<\/p>\n
Obviously, it\u2019s a sad moment for the 49ers. Bosa was well on his way to putting together a massive individual season. He was also going to be a huge part of helping lead the team back to serious contention in the NFC.<\/p>\n
Through the first three games of the season, Bosa had already recorded 17 total tackles to go along with two sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He had shown no sign of slowing down either.<\/p>\n
Over the last two years, San Francisco has not been able to catch a break from an injury perspective. Already this season, outside of the Bosa injury, the 49ers have seen quarterback Brock Purdy and tight end George Kittle miss time. Losing Bosa was just the latest blow for the team as they look to get back to being a Super Bowl caliber team.<\/p>\n
Just a couple of short years ago, San Francisco was in the Super Bowl and lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. The 49ers were expected to be back in the big game, but injuries have derailed that expectation.<\/p>\n
Hopefully, Bosa is able to attack his rehab process and get back on the field to begin next season with no setbacks. He is one of the best defensive players in the NFL. His loss will be felt for the rest of the year by San Francisco.<\/p>\n
Next up for the 49ers will be a Week 4 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars at home. It will be interesting to see if the team is able to remain undefeated and move to 4-0.<\/p>\n
