Right-handed starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks decided to leave the Chicago Cubs for the first time in his career and sign with the Los Angeles Angels on a one-year, $2.5 million deal for the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

It ended his 11-year hiatus with the Chicago Cubs, and the World Series-winning starter looked towards helping the Los Angeles Angels get back to the playoffs, something they haven’t done since 2014.<\/p>\n

Fast forward to just a week away from the end of the 2025 regular season, the Angels are out of playoff contention, and Hendricks’ contract is set to expire. So what’s next for the 35-year-old pitcher?<\/p>\n

At the start of the final week of the 2025 regular season, it was revealed that the now Los Angeles Angels pitcher, Kyle Hendricks, has been preparing to announce his retirement from Major League Baseball once the season concludes, Bob Nightengale of USA Today<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n

Kyle Hendricks was the Game 7 starter for the Chicago Cubs when they won the World Series in 2016. This was the club’s first World Series win since 1908.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old’s pitching stats have gradually gotten worse since the COVID year in 2020, but that doesn’t subtract from the impressive career he’s had.<\/p>\n

In 307 appearances in his career, Hendricks has a 105-91 record, 3.79 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 1,365 strikeouts in 1,740 innings pitched.<\/p>\n
