The Green Bay Packers made a huge splash right before the season started by trading for three-time All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons, who had demanded a trade away from the Dallas Cowboys after their owner, Jerry Jones, refused to negotiate with his agent. That trade is already being heralded as one of the best, if not\u00a0the\u00a0<\/em>best, in franchise history, with Parsons accumulating 1.5 sacks in his first two games with the Packers even though he has only played 57% of the defensive snaps.<\/p>\n

Indeed, there is a great deal buzz surrounding the Green Bay defense after their first two games, which is quite the shift from the perception of their unit just a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the offseason, the Packers made the controversial decision to part ways with two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander after the two sides could not come to an agreement on a revised contract for 2025. He subsequently signed with the Baltimore Ravens on a one-year $6 million contract.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, his stint in Baltimore has not gotten off to the start he hoped for.<\/p>\n

Last week, Alexander made his Ravens debut when Baltimore took on the Buffalo Bills in Week One. Unfortunately for him and his team, he did not have a good game, getting picked on frequently by reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen, who targeted him often, especially late in the game.<\/p>\n

Despite a fourth quarter lead, the Ravens were not able to stop the high-octane Bills offense, who marched down the field and kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired, making the score 41-40.<\/p>\n

On their final drive, Alexander gave up two huge receptions, allowing the Bills to get into position to kick the game-winning field goal.<\/p>\n

And this week, the former Packers star is not playing at all.<\/p>\n

The Packers and Alexander, as fans know all too well, had a falling out over the star cornerback\u2019s health and ability to stay on the field. Over the past two seasons, he played in just 14 of a possible 34 regular season games, and only played 34 of a possible 68 regular season games over the past four years.<\/p>\n

When Green Bay released him, many fans felt that the defense would suffer without him. But the fact of the matter is that he was barely on the field as it was. Undoubtedly, though, the addition of Parsons is having a positive effect on their current secondary as well.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile in Baltimore, Alexander missed part of training camp with a knee issue, the same one that plagued him in Green Bay. And now, despite not being on their final injury report, the former Packers first round pick has been listed as a healthy scratch for their game against the Cleveland Browns.<\/p>\n

And many wonder if he been benched for poor play:<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that Alexander\u2019s contract with Baltimore is fully guaranteed, so they would not gain anything financially from releasing him.<\/p>\n
