The Philadelphia Phillies have been a joy to watch this season. There has been no shortage of home runs with guys like Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper stepping into the box.<\/p>\n

The club has clear control in the National League East, sitting with an 85-60 record. They hold a nine-game lead over the New York Mets in the division and are well on their way to another postseason berth.<\/p>\n

Rob Thomson has brought this club plenty of success under his watch. He has an ongoing record of 335-245, and has brought his club to the playoffs every season he has been in charge.<\/p>\n

Thomson’s is under contract through the 2026 season. However, Phillies’ owner John Middleton could look at a change if Philadelphia falls short again in October.<\/p>\n

Yankees’ bench coach linked to Phillies’ job, per insider<\/h2>\n

ESPN’s Buster Olney recently came out with an article discussing potential managerial or front office changes for next season. In this piece, he linked New York Yankees’ bench coach Brad Ausmus as a potential fit if Thomson is out.<\/p>\n

“If president of baseball operations David Dombrowski looks for another manager, it’s worth remembering that he hired Brad Ausmus in Detroit and, by all accounts, had a strong working relationship with him. Ausmus is the bench coach with the Yankees now.”<\/p>\n

Olney discusses David Dombrowski’s ties to Brad Ausmus, whom he hired to be the Detroit Tigers’ manager ahead of the 2014 season, succeeding Jim Leyland.
