<\/main>he Boston Red Sox outfield could become a concern in a hurry depending on what Roman Anthony’s injury diagnosis is.<\/p>\n

Anthony exited Tuesday’s game early with oblique tightness. If he goes on the injured list, he will join Wilyer Abreu as outfielders the Red Sox are missing. Abreu has been on the injured list since Aug. 21 with a calf strain.<\/p>\n

He was scheduled to run on Monday, but Alex Cora revealed his injury is not healing the way the team had hoped,\u00a0according to MassLive’s Christopher Smith.<\/p>\n

“He’s not running (Tuesday), either,” Cora said Tuesday, per Smith. “Just progressing but slowly. Not the way we envisioned when the injury happened.”<\/p>\n

Cora refused to call the update on Abreu a setback, but this is the second time his return has been pushed back. He originally did not go on the injured list, thinking two days of rest would solve the problem.<\/p>\n

Now his return has been pushed again, and the timing could not be worse. Perhaps the Red Sox knew what they were doing when they held on to Jarren Duran at the trade deadline, because if he were not on the team right now, the Red Sox would be in serious trouble in the outfield.<\/p>\n

Abreu is a Gold Glove Award winner and was slashing .253\/.325\/.486 in 108 games. He leads the team in home runs and could be a huge boost to the offense when he returns, especially if Anthony is out.<\/p>\n
