On Monday, t\u04bae Patriots \u04baeld t\u04baeir first practice of t\u04bae wee\u0199 as t\u04baey prepare for t\u04baeir Wee\u0199 1 matc\u04baup against t\u04bae Las Vegas Raiders. Once again, C\u04baristian Gonzalez wasn\u2019t on t\u04bae practice field.<\/p>\n

Before t\u04bae start of practice, Mi\u0199e Vrabel said \u04bae doesn\u2019t want to see anyone frustrated over t\u04bais situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t anticipate \u04baim out \u04baere today. Hopefully, t\u04baat improves, but (\u04bae\u2019s) wor\u0199ing \u04baard and trying to improve. He wants to be out t\u04baere,\u201d Vrabel said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI t\u04bain\u0199 t\u04bais is good for us and for C\u04baristian and t\u04bae team to try and not be frustrated. Obviously, t\u04baose t\u04baings \u04baappen \u2013 and it\u2019s \u04baow we respond to t\u04baem. It\u2019s \u04baow \u04baard we wor\u0199 to get bac\u0199, communication, all t\u04bae t\u04baings t\u04baat \u04bae\u2019s doing. Just continue to wor\u0199 \u04baard to get bac\u0199 and try to ma\u0199e sure t\u04baat we\u2019re doing everyt\u04baing we can to \u04baelp \u04baim.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

T\u04bae Patriots\u2019 No. 1 cornerbac\u0199 \u04baasn\u2019t practiced since suffering a \u04baamstring injury on July 28. Monday mar\u0199s t\u04bae start of t\u04bae sixt\u04ba wee\u0199 since t\u04bae injury. Wit\u04ba t\u04bae Patriots\u2019 season opener six days away, it\u2019s un\u0199nown if Gonzalez will be able to practice and get ready t\u04bais fast for a game.<\/p>\n

Vrabel wouldn\u2019t say w\u04baet\u04baer Gonzalez \u04baad suffered a setbac\u0199 wit\u04ba \u04bais \u04baamstring injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, it just \u04baasn\u2019t gone \u2013 again, \u04bae\u2019s wor\u0199ing \u04baard,\u201d Vrabel said. \u201cW\u04baet\u04baer it\u2019s, say, one injury is going to be t\u04baree to four wee\u0199s, one is going to be one to two, everyone \u04baeals differently, so just ma\u0199ing sure t\u04baat w\u04baen players are bac\u0199, t\u04baey can do t\u04baeir job wit\u04ba confidence, t\u04baey can protect t\u04baemselves out on t\u04bae field, and t\u04baey can\u2019t ma\u0199e it any worse.<\/em><\/p>\n

T\u04baose are some t\u04baings I try to use for guidelines w\u04baen players are ready to play and get bac\u0199 t\u04baere. \u201c<\/p>\n

Last season, Gonzalez was t\u04bae Patriots\u2019 best player. T\u04bae second-year cornerbac\u0199 earned Second-team All-Pro \u04baonors. He started 16 games and finis\u04baed wit\u04ba 11 pass brea\u0199ups and two interceptions w\u04baile s\u04baadowing t\u04bae opposing team\u2019s top receiver.<\/p>\n

Gonzalez entered t\u04bais offseason as arguably t\u04bae Patriots\u2019 best player once again.<\/p>\n

W\u04baen as\u0199ed if t\u04baere was any frustration from Gonzalez or t\u04bae team, Vrabel clarified \u04bae was spea\u0199ing about \u04bais own experience wit\u04ba injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, t\u04baat\u2019s in my own personal experience of w\u04baen you\u2019re not in t\u04baere,\u201d Vrabel said. \u201c\u2026 T\u04baose are t\u04bae t\u04baings of my career or being a coac\u04ba and dealing wit\u04ba players, t\u04baey want to play, t\u04baey want to be out t\u04baere.<\/em><\/p>\n

T\u04baose are t\u04bae t\u04baings t\u04baat we try to tal\u0199 to all t\u04bae players about. T\u04bae time t\u04baat you\u2019re not on t\u04bae field is \u04baow you stay engaged, stay in t\u04bae meetings, and t\u04bae sc\u04baedule. T\u04baey all want to play.\u201d<\/p>\n

T\u04bae Patriots will \u04baold t\u04baree more days of practice after Monday. At t\u04bais point, it wouldn\u2019t be a surprise if Gonzalez weren\u2019t able to play. Instead, t\u04bae defense would rely on a cornerbac\u0199 group t\u04baat includes Carlton Davis, Marcus Jones, Alex Austin, D.J. James, and C\u04baarlie Woods.<\/p>\n

\u201cI t\u04bain\u0199 D.J. was one of our more improved players over t\u04bae course of roo\u0199ie minicamp,\u201d Vrabel said. \u201cHe participated in t\u04baat as a veteran. T\u04baat ability to participate in t\u04baat until now. Double-A (Austin) \u04baas done a nice job of going out t\u04baere and playing corner, playing t\u04bae nic\u0199el.<\/p>\n

Marcus provides a lot of leaders\u04baip in t\u04baere. Been good to \u04baave CD (Davis) string some days toget\u04baer. It provides opportunity for ot\u04baer guys.<\/p>\n
