His name is Tucu, and he was the size of a rolled-up towel when we pulled him out of that freezing dark. I wrapped him in my coat, my hands shaking, unsure if we were already too late. He didn\u2019t even shiver \u2014 just lay still, as if he\u2019d already used up everything he had to survive.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I whispered to him the whole ride to the vet, though I don\u2019t remember what I said. Just\u2026 please. Please stay.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The vet\u2019s office smelled of antiseptic and a kind of hope I hadn\u2019t felt in years. They worked fast. They said his heart was still beating, but barely. His blood was all wrong. Anemia, they said. Hypothermia. Muscles that had never had the chance to grow.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

They didn\u2019t know if he\u2019d make it through the night.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The next few days were a blur of IVs, transfusions, late-night vet visits, and more silent prayers than I\u2019ve said in a decade. Every small thing felt like a miracle. When he licked food for the first time. When his tail moved. When he tried to stand on those fragile legs, like twigs trying to hold up a storm.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Someone at the clinic said, \u201cI\u2019ve never seen a puppy so pitiful.\u201d We all cried. But Tucu didn\u2019t. He just looked at us with those wide, honest eyes \u2014 like he already knew he was safe.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
