Walker Jenkins is one step closer to the big leagues.<\/p>\n

The Twins promoted their top prospect on Sunday to Triple-A, putting him just one step away from the major leagues.<\/p>\n

Jenkins will join the St. Paul Saints for their road series against Toledo, which begins on Tuesday. Fans in the Twin Cities should be able to get their first look at him in person when the Saints return home on Sept. 9.<\/p>\n

Jenkins, 20, was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 draft and is considered the No. 14 prospect in the game, per MLB Pipeline.<\/p>\n

The outfielder earned his promotion after hitting .309 with a .913 OPS in 52 games at Double-A this season. Jenkins hit seven home runs, 11 doubles, drove in 24 runs and scored 38 of them while stealing 11 bases and walking (34) almost as much as he struck out (44) for the Wind Surge.<\/p>\n

Jenkins has dealt with a number of injuries during his time in the minor leagues, including an ankle injury that cost him the first couple months of this season.<\/p>\n

But when Jenkins has been healthy, he has performed at every level. The Twins have promoted him aggressively, this being the latest move as Jenkins will face competition much older than himself in Triple-A.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
