The other day, a Tulsa, Oklahoma, resident was driving down the road when they suddenly spotted some dogs running down the street. The driver couldn\u2019t believe their eyes as more and more scared pups seemed to appear out of nowhere.<\/p>\n

They realized that there were not 10, not 11, but 12 dogs on the loose and in danger of getting run over. The person who discovered the terrified babies called Puppy Haven Rescue for help.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThey were \u2026 terrified of cars,\u201d Breanne Luiskutty, president of Puppy Haven Rescue, told The Dodo.<\/p>\n

Luiskutty noticed that every single one of the dogs was male. That, combined with the sheer number of dogs abandoned together, began to raise some red flags for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause these are small-breed dogs with poodle mixed in, they are likely from a breeder,\u201d Luiskutty said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Unfortunately, Puppy Haven Rescue sees animals abandoned by backyard breeders all the time. Once the dogs no longer serve a purpose for the breeders, they\u2019re discarded.<\/p>\n

The dogs were all dirty, hungry and disoriented. Puppy Haven Rescue took in 10 of the 12 abandoned pups and distributed them to foster homes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe dogs were very scared the first night they went home,\u201d Luiskutty said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But many of the dogs are already beginning to decompress and come out of their shells. They\u2019re enjoying cuddling together and even venturing outside. For the first time in forever, they finally feel safe.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cYour heart breaks for what they\u2019ve endured, but it also comes with a sense of relief that they no longer have to suffer,\u201d Luiskutty said.<\/p>\n

Over the next few weeks, the dogs will get groomed, vaccinated and neutered. Once they\u2019re fully recovered, they\u2019ll be available for adoption.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe are hoping they find people who protect and choose them for the rest of their lives,\u201d Luiskutty said. \u201cWe know for certain they are all worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n
