Things are not looking good for the New England Patriots\u2019 2024 draft class. Of the eight players selected just a year ago, only three remain on the active roster: QB Drake Maye, WR Javon Baker and OL Caedan Wallace.<\/p>\n
Of those three, only Maye is a starter. Meanwhile, Baker and Wallace are at risk of being cut in the coming days.<\/p>\n
During his regular appearance on WEEI, Mike Vrabel was asked about the lack of talent the Patriots would be able to count on from the 2024 NFL Draft. Vrabel was asked point-blank, \u201cCan you compete when you have one guy from an entire class last year?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYes,\u201d Vrabel said.<\/p>\n
Between roster cuts and injuries, players from the 2024 class have been dropping like flies. Here\u2019s the current status of the eight drafted players:<\/p>\n
Round 1: QB Drake Maye (Everything is great)<\/em> Milton was the first player to go, having been traded to the Cowboys earlier this year. Dial suffered a season-ending knee injury early in camp.<\/p>\n Really, the dire status of last year\u2019s draft haul reached critical mass in recent days. On Thursday, news broke that Polk would also miss the season with an injury. Bell was cut on Friday. Robinson was cut on Sunday.<\/p>\n Vrabel was asked a follow-up: Will it be tough to compete without last year\u2019s draft class to count on (outside Maye)?<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve never even looked at how difficult \u2013 it\u2019s hard to compete in this league,” Vrabel said. \u201cSo wherever the roster shakes out at, whether we have 15 guys from the draft class or two or one or none. We\u2019ll have a roster and we\u2019ll try to figure out the best way to win each and every week with whoever we have.<\/em><\/p>\n While Maye is the only roster lock, the Patriots could head into the season with Baker and Wallace on the roster as well. Baker has shown promise as a special teamer.
