As if Alexis D\u00edaz hadn’t already been enough of a disappointment for the Los Angeles Dodgers, even his replacement <\/em>couldn’t last more than a day on the active roster before being relegated back to Triple-A.<\/p>\n Less than a full 24 hours after he was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City, right-handed reliever Paul Gervase has already been optioned off of the active roster following a bumpy Dodgers debut Wednesday night against the Colorado Rockies. He will be replaced by Matt Sauer, who has been recalled in a corresponding move.<\/p>\n Gervase threw 32 pitches (21 strikes) through two innings of relief and surrendered a walk and an earned run on two hits while striking out two in the Dodgers’ 8-3 loss to the Rockies. It was his first Major League outing for the Dodgers since they acquired him from the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-team trade at last month’s deadline.<\/p>\n Gervase was the 39th different pitcher to throw for the Dodgers this season and will now return to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he has a 2.08 ERA across 8 2\/3 innings pitched through five games this season. He has a career ERA of 2.93 through 162 2\/3 minor league innings, compared to a 4.32 ERA through 8 1\/3 innings in the Majors.<\/p>\n In replacement of Gervase, Sauer returns to the Dodgers for his fifth stint in the Majors after signing a minor league deal with Los Angeles in the offseason. The right-hander has a 6.18 ERA in his nine Major League games, including one start and one four-inning save, with 22 strikeouts and eight walks in 27 2\/3 innings.<\/p>\n Sauer has been starter in 15 of his 16 appearances in Triple-A this season with a 4.86 ERA, 73 strikeouts and 23 walks in 76 innings. He last pitched on Saturday, when he allowed five runs in five innings to Albuquerque.
