<\/main>hough the chatter has died down some, Micah Parsons’ standoff with the Dallas Cowboys remains a major topic in the\u00a0NFL. Still with no end in sight, one franchise legend weighed in with their thoughts on the situation.<\/p>\n

Parsons, now in the final year of his rookie contract, has longed for an extension with the Cowboys. However, despite being such a valuable piece to the roster, the front office has been slow to lock him down to a new deal.<\/p>\n

With talks getting nowhere, Parsons’ growing frustrations reached their breaking point during training camp. The All-Pro linebacker took to social media to reflect on all his issues with the ordeal while also putting in a trade request.<\/p>\n

There remains no extension in sight for Parsons, but the Cowboys have also expressed they aren’t going to entertain offers.<\/p>\n

Troy Aikman gives his thoughts on Micah Parsons’ feud with Cowboys<\/h2>\n

On Monday night, ESPN broadcasted a preseason matchup between the Washington Commanders and Cincinnati Bengals. Among those n the call was Cowboys legend and Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman.<\/p>\n

While covering the game, Aikman took the time to share his thoughts on his former team. He remains high on the Cowboys heading into the 2025 campaign, but doesn’t think they’ll have much success if Parsons isn’t in the mix.<\/p>\n

“His leverage is they can’t win without him,” Aikman said. “I do think they Cowboys are going to be better than what a lot of people project…Without Micah Parsons, I just don’t think they’re gonna be able to slow anybody down. He is a total game-wrecker and he’s proven that he’s certainly worth ultimately every penny he is going to get paid. The longer it goes, the more money he is gonna make.”<\/p>\n

As arguably one of the top defensive players in the\u00a0NFL, Parsons commands a sizable offer on his next contract. Seeing that guys like Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt are making around $40 million annually, it’s fair to assume he’ll make somewhere in that ballpark on his next deal.<\/p>\n

Coming off a season where they fell short of expectations, the Cowboys are looking to get back in the hunt in the NFC in 2025. However, as Aikman mentioned, they won’t be able to do so without Parsons. He is a pillar for Dallas’ defense, and would leave a massive void to fill if he isn’t on the field come Week 1.<\/p>\n

Jerry Jones is confident\u00a0Parsons will be in action to start the season, but it is uncertain how the star linebacker plans to handle the situation if a new deal isn’t signed in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
