BOSTON \u2014 Right fielder Wilyer Abreu left the Red Sox\u2019 5-3 loss to the Marlins on Sunday in the seventh inning due to right calf tightness.<\/p>\n
He expects to avoid the injured list.<\/p>\n
\u201cA little bit tight. I felt like a cramp,\u201d Abreu said through translator Carlos Villoria Ben\u00edtez. \u201cSo right now I\u2019m day-to-day. See how I wake up tomorrow. … Probably take two or three days and be ready for New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Red Sox have games against the Orioles on Monday and Tuesday at Fenway Park. They don\u2019t play Wednesday before beginning a four-game series against the Yankees in New York on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s an IL. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s necessary,\u201d Abreu said.<\/p>\n
Abreu first felt the tightness during the seventh inning. He singled to lead off the inning and scored two batters later on Abraham Toro\u2019s RBI sac fly to left field.<\/p>\n
Abreu then did not return for the bottom of the seventh inning to play right field.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I was at third and tagging to score, the first step I felt a little cramp,\u201d Abreu said.<\/p>\n
Abreu put the Red Sox ahead 2-1 with a 377-foot two-run homer to right field in the fourth inning. Marlins right fielder Dane Myers nearly robbed Abreu, leaping and extending his glove. The ball momentarily settled in the upper webbing before falling into the Marlins bullpen.<\/p>\n

Abreu is unsure whether it would have been a home run or if Myers\u2019 knocked it over the wall with his glove.<\/p>\n
\u201cTough to say whether that ball was going to go out or not,\u201d Abreu said. \u201cBut obviously it was a good help.\u201d<\/p>\n
Boston had a 3-2 leading entering the top of the ninth inning. Greg Weissert received the save opportunity with Aroldis Chapman unavailable after pitching back-to-back days.<\/p>\n
Weissert allowed a solo home run to Dane Myers on the second pitch he threw.<\/p>\n
Weissert then gave up a single to Eric Wagaman before Steven Matz replaced him and surrendered a go-ahead two-run homer to Jakob Marsee, making it 5-3 Miami.<\/p>\n
